Macaulay Honors College offers its students the best of both worlds. By combining the small, supportive environment of a liberal arts and sciences college with the programs and intellectual resources of the leading urban public research university, students at this New York two-year college engage in premier educational opportunities on a daily basis. Macaulay Honors College students, or University Scholars, enroll in both Macaulay Honors College as well as one of the seven participating CUNY senior colleges. Macaulay Honors College offers its students a rigorous honors curriculum, the latest in academic technology, and global learning opportunities. At Macaulay Honors College, interdisciplinary seminars include traditional scholarly activity along with hands-on experiences, deepening students' understanding of the institutions and people of New York. The Macaulay interdisciplinary research approach promotes critical thought, intellectual initiative, and problem-solving. Macaulay Honors College changes lives and brightens futures for its students, the community, and our global society as a whole.

  • From its debut in 2001, the Macaulay Honors College has grown from an inaugural class of 189 to a four-year student body of over 1200.

  • All University Scholars at Macaulay Honors College receive full-tuition scholarships, $7500 study grants to pursue study abroad, independent research and/or internships, and free Apple Macintosh laptops.

  • A unique Cultural Passport gives Macaulay students free or reduced admission to many of New York's cultural landmarks and teaching institutions.

  • University Scholars have an enormous array of local campus student activities and organizations open to them.
