Macalester College is a private, coeducational liberal arts college, founded in 1874 as a Presbyterian-related but non-sectarian college. Accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, this Minnesota liberal arts college is highly selective, and its academic program emphasizes internationalism, multiculturalism, and service to society.
Students at Macalester College choose from more than 35 majors in natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and fine arts. Macalester College also offers an architecture program in cooperation with Washington University in St. Louis. More than half of Macalester College students choose to supplement their education with at least one semester of study abroad, traveling to more than 65 countries.
Macalester College is an NCAA Division III school with nine men's teams and 10 women's teams competing at the varsity level. There is no Greek life on campus, but students can participate in more than 80 organizations including cultural groups, club sports, campus media, student government, religious organizations, and more than 15 musical ensembles.
