Wallace Community College; Marion Military Institute; Northeast Alabama Community College; Northwest-Shoals Community College; Shelton State Community College; Snead State Community College; Southern Union State Community College; George C. Wallace Community College; Wallace State Community College; George Corley Wallace State Community College; H. Council Trenholm State Technical College; J.F. Drake State Technical College; and Reid State Technical College. The system also has two industrial training schools: Alabama Industrial Development Training Institute and Alabama Technology Network. Athens State University is the upper-level school in the system.

J.F. Ingram State Technical College serves incarcerated persons through the Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles. The 21 programs through J.F. Ingram State Technical College helps these individuals obtain professional and technical skills, which will help them return successfully to their families and communities.

There are various admissions requirements for programs at the school. In general, if students do not have a high school diploma or GED, J.F. Ingram State Technical College will provide programs to help students study for the GED exam. Prospective students wishing to enroll at J.F. Ingram State Technical College, must have a high school diploma or GED for all of the associate degree programs and most of the certificate and diploma programs; must complete a Compass exam, or have SAT or ACT exam scores. If they do not have those, they may be required to take the Compass exam. Students who have attended other colleges or universities must also provide a transcript from those schools.
