Established in 1937, the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley is one of just two Jesuit theological institutions in the country. Students come from more than 40 nations throughout the world, and despite their different cultural backgrounds, they all have the same mission: to become the next generation of lay and ordained leaders of the Catholic Church throughout the world.
The Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley offers eight different academic programs: the Master of Divinity; the Master of Arts/Master of Arts in Biblical Language; the Master of Arts/Master of Divinity; Master of Theological Studies; Master of Theology; the Licentiate in Sacred Theology; the Doctor of Sacred Theology; and the three-year Bachelor of Sacred Theology. Students enrolled in these programs can anticipate a rigorous course plan combined with practical experience in the church community, as well as significant time for personal and spiritual reflection.
