Jackson State Community College, which was conceived of by the Tennessee General Assembly in 1963, has spent the last 47 years offering students the educational opportunities that they need to succeed in life. With the mission of providing accessible learning opportunities and services to both the student body and members of the community, this Tennessee college has grown to include a wide variety of programs and disciplines.
Now offering associate degree, certificate, and enrichment programs, Jackson State Community College appeals to both career-minded and education-driven students. Of special note is this Tennessee college's College/University Transfer Program. Because of this program, students who are interested in transferring their credits to a traditional four-year degree-granting college or university can choose from over 27 pre-designed and approved areas. Upon completion of two years in one of these academic or pre-professional areas, a student receives an associate degree and the ability to enter into a bachelor's degree program with status as a junior. From accounting, agriculture, art, biology, and information systems, to pre-engineering, pre-law, pre-nursing, public administration, and social work there are plenty of opportunities for furthering one's education and career potential.
Students who do not seek transfer to another postsecondary institution will find the Associate of Applied Science Degree programs beneficial. These programs span fields like network administration, business management, radiography, and respiratory care technology.
