Davidson County Community College provides quality educational programs and services to prepare students for enhanced employment and educational opportunities. Chartered in 1958 as an Industrial Education Center, Davidson County Community College was designed to provide adults the education and skills needed to move from an agricultural to a manufacturing-based economy. The first classes were held at the former Junior Order Home on Highway 8.

Today, Davidson County Community College serves approximately 16,000 students each year on the Davidson and Davie campuses and its two satellite centers, the Uptown Lexington Education Center at 20 East First Street and the Thomasville Education Center at 305 Randolph Street. With over 50 curriculum programs, the campus continues to grow and expand its educational programs and services.

Student activities are viewed as an important dimension of each student's experience while attending Davidson County Community College as well. As such, a wide variety of student organizations are available for students to participate in.
