The Daoist Traditions College of Medical Arts was founded by a group of Chinese medicine practitioners devoted to reviving classical teachings of Chinese medicine. Their inspiration comes from the 88th Daoist priest, Jeffrey Yuen.

Daoist Traditions College of Medical Arts provides instruction on medical techniques and teachings rooted in Chinese medical arts. The college offers a four-year graduate level Oriental medicine diploma program, in which students receive training in ancient traditions and modern Tradtional Chinese Medicine teachings. The program requires 3,062 hours of study with curriculum in the study areas of acupuncture and Chinese medicine, theory diagnosis and treatment techniques, Chinese herbal medicine, Western sciences, Qi cultivation, and clinical observations. Courses include history of Chinese medicine and Qi Gong, Su Wen, Luo Vessels, curious organs, divergent meridians, Nan Jing, Ling Shu, sinew meridians, Chinese medicine theory, meridian overview, Tui Na, point energetic, point location, cultivating the spirit, treatment of latent heat, differentiation of syndromes, Chinese medicine diagnostics, treatment of disease, and more than 50 other courses including clinical internships.

  • Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts has a compact class schedule, with classes held two days a week. The average class hours per week are 16. As students progress, hours increase to include the clinical portion of the program.


  • Every semester, two additional weekend classes are added. One of the two classes is taught by Jeffrey Yuen.


  • The first year of study begins in July and students take history of Chinese medicine, introduction to herb cultivation and herbal dispensary I. After this semester, remaining semesters will begin in August. The fall and spring semesters are comprised of 15 weeks of study.


  • The program is full-time and takes four years to complete, must be completed in six years, and cannot be completed in less than three years.


  • Before admission to Daoist Traditions College of Medical Arts, students must have completed 60 semester credits or 90 quarter units of general education courses from an accredited institution of higher learning. Admission is on a rolling basis and application materials and interviews are conducted until the class has obtained its maximum capacity of 20 students.


  • During the first two years of the program, students complete 150 hours of clinical observation and the last two years, students complete 750 hours of clinical internship through the Daoist Traditions Student Acupuncture Clinic.


  • The college has a faculty with more than 20 years of experience in the field.
