Cornell College is an independent, coeducational, liberal arts college located in scenic Mount Vernon, Iowa. This private, nationally-acclaimed, residential, four-year college is nurtured by the United Methodist Church. Cornell is dedicated to fostering intellectual, moral, and personal growth, and is devoted to liberal learning and democratic values.

Cornell is one of only two liberal arts colleges in the country that operates the distinctive One-Course-At-A-Time (OCAAT) academic structure. OCAAT allows students to devote themselves to just one academic discipline at a time. OCAAT courses range from on-campus classes to off-site internships and international study trips.

With the OCAAT structure, students focus intensely on one course for three and a half weeks, then move on to a new subject. The academic schedule enables a student to spend a month creating a theatrical production, conducting high-level scientific research, or learning a new language.

Concentrating on a single class, students are free to indulge their passion in areas such as creative writing, studio art, or laboratory science. A clear focus and sustained attention helps students to reach a deeper level of knowledge and understanding.

With OCAAT, the opportunities are extraordinary--and almost limitless.
