Converse College, established in 1889, is a small, private women's college in Spartanburg, South Carolina. This South Carolina college offers undergraduate programs in the liberal arts, music, and selected professional areas, as well as coeducational graduate programs. Through a commitment to the study of the liberal arts, Converse College helps students develop intellectually, socially, physically, and spiritually.

Converse College awards BA, BS, BFA, and BM undergraduate degrees across more than 40 majors and 20 minors. Graduate degrees include MAT, MEd, MLA, and MM. Specialist degrees are also offered.

The College of Arts and Sciences at Converse College spans a wide array of fields, ranging from business, biology, and education to politics, theatre, and interior design.

The Carroll McDaniel Petrie School of Music at Converse College offers aspiring musicians a solid foundation in music theory, composition, history, therapy, education, and performance. Converse graduates are found in major symphony orchestras, opera houses, chamber music ensembles, church positions, Broadway, and recording studios.

In every major, Converse students are encouraged to perform independent research or creative work, internships, and honors work.

Converse College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and is a founding member of the Association of American Colleges and Universities. Converse is also a member of the American Association of University Women, Southern University Conference, Women's College Coalition, Council of Independent Colleges, Council for Advancement and Support of Education, Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges, American Council on Education, and National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities. The Petrie School of Music is a charter member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
