With an average class size of 25, students receive individualized attention. Many faculty members, almost 90 percent of which have doctorate degrees in their field, have been recipients of the prestigious Fulbright scholarship and have extensive global experience from a variety of cultures.

At the undergraduate level, degree programs range from accounting, management, social work and theater. At the graduate level, students may pursue a Master's degree in applied physics and computer science, environmental science and teaching. Students are also encouraged to nurture their academic skills in programs like the honor society, leadership programs, internships, and study abroad. Founded in 1960, this college in Virginia was originally a two year college with less than 200 students. Average student SAT scores have risen more than 400 percent in recent years, an attest to this university's increasing success.
