Located on the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation in southeastern Montana, Chief Dull Knife College is nestled in a beautiful rural area, surrounded mostly by ranching and coal mining activity. Chief Dull Knife College is located in Lame Deer along with the Bureau of Indian Affairs offices, Indian Health Service facilities, tribal government offices, First Interstate Bank, public K-12 schools and various churches. An open-admission, community based, tribally-controlled community college and land grant institution, Chief Dull Knife College provides affordable, quality educational opportunities to residents of the Northern Cheyenne reservation and surrounding communities.
Chief Dull Knife College is named in honor of one of the Northern Cheyenne's most respected historical leaders who fought overwhelming odds to maintain the sovereignty of the Cheyenne people. Much like Chief Dull Knife's determination, the primary mission of Chief Dull Knife College is to provide educational and cultural leadership to all learners. Chief Dull Knife College believes that all individuals should be given the opportunity to experience higher education and reach their full potential. Chief Dull Knife College treats students with dignity and respect and enables them to become responsible citizens while honoring their Cheyenne cultural values.
Chief Dull Knife College has become a comprehensive vocational and post-secondary educational institution. The Native American college provides an associate of arts degree in the academic disciplines, an Associate of Applied Science in the vocational areas, and Vocational Certificates in a variety of skill areas.
