As the oldest historically black university in the nation, Cheyney University has a rich history. This university in Pennsylvania was founded more than 100 years ago with the intention of providing free higher education to African Americans. This university in Pennsylvania began by offering only courses and degree programs in education, and has expanded today to offer dozens of programs in journalism, medicine, business, law, and communication.

Through the university's two colleges, the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Education, Cheyney University confers Bachelor's degrees.
