Central Pennsylvania Institute of Science and Technology was founded as the Centre County Vocational Technical School in 1969. In 1998, the school took its current name to reflect its scientific and technical educational programs for high school students and the adult community.

Central Pennsylvania Institute of Science and Technology has more than 18 secondary programs, more than 60 adult continuing education programs, and over 350 online courses. Central Pennsylvania also offers certification in a variety of areas. The high school programs include agriculture sciences, automotive science and technology, building trades maintenance, carpentry and building construction technology, collision repair technology, cosmetology, culinary arts, dental assistant, early childhood education, diesel repair technology, heating ventilation and air-conditioning, heavy equipment operation, graphic arts/publishing technology, horticulture and landscaping design, IT/Cisco networking academy, precision machine technology, protective services, and welding and metal fabrication technology. The adult continuing education program offers associate degree programs, transportation/automotive, construction/trades healthcare, testing/certification, computers/information technology, and other continuing education courses.

These cooperative programs allow students to earn credits toward graduation and gain hand-on experience through on the job training. Central Pennsylvania Institute of Science and Technology places students from 18 of its programs into businesses within the community. Cooperative programs include the Capstone Program, Adult Cooperative Education, internships, and job shadowing.


  • Central Pennsylvania institute of Science and Technology's Online Instruction Center has courses in basic computer literacy, computer application, the Internet, web graphics and multimedia, database management and programming, certification prep, languages, entertainment industry, personal finance and wealth building, personal enrichment, accounting and a wide range of other courses to fit every student's interests.
