Bryn Mawr College

Bryn Mawr College
101 North Merion Ave.
Bryn Mawr, PA 19010

Bryn Mawr's educational programs are based on the philosophy that the entire college experience should be centered on each individual student and their personal, professional, and academic goals. Bryn Mawr encourages its students to gain real world, practical experience in addition to traditional classroom learning experiences. As a result, many students choose to study abroad, enhancing their personal experiences and enriching their academic education.

To encourage student expansion of learning experiences outside the classroom, Bryn Mawr instituted a community-based learning program called Praxis. Courses in this program blend classroom learning with practical experience, allowing the student to apply academic skills to the appropriate field at the time they're learned. It is partially due unique academic programs such as this one that Bryn Mawr College is ranked among the top 10 schools graduating students that go on to Ph.D. programs.

Unique to Bryn Mawr is its academic and social collaboration with other colleges in the area, which greatly expands the options of majors and programs of study. Its collaboration with Haverford and Swarthmore Colleges open the door to majors not previously available at Bryn Mawr, including astronomy, music, fine arts, and religion. Extracurricular activities including a social action group, a student orchestra, and various intramural sports are also available thanks to the cooperation of these three colleges. Additionally, Bryn Mawr College students can choose to take classes at the UPenn, which greatly enhances the number and variety of classes available. Between the three colleges, more than 5,000 additional classes are available each year.
