Bowling Green Technical College is a professional technical school located in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Bowling Green Technical College was founded in 1939 as the Western Trade School. The school originally opened as a training facility of the National Youth Administration, in partnership with Western Kentucky State Teachers College. Through name changes and changes in leadership, the mission of Bowling Green Technical College has always remained the same - to provide a quality education for students who can use their training in professional careers. The college acquired the name Bowling Green Technical College in 1997 when it became a part of the Kentucky Community and Technical College system.
Bowling Green Technical College has five campuses: the main campus in Bowling Green; the Glasgow health campus; the Glasgow technology campus; Transpark Center; and the advanced technology campus in Bowling Green. Students at Bowling Green Technical College have the option of enrolling in allied health and nursing; applied technology; business; information and technology; or general education programs of student. The programs in the allied heath and nursing department include: emergency medical technician; Medicaid nurse aid; medication aid; nursing - academic career mobility; practical nursing LPN; radiography; respiratory care; sonography; and surgical technology. Applied technology programs: air conditioning; agriculture; automotive technology; CAD; collision repair; electricity; fire rescue; industrial maintenance; machine tool technology; and welding technology. Business programs: business studies; and culinary arts. Engineering and information technology programs: engineering technology and information technology.
The general education program allows students to build skills that will assist them at school and in their professions. Study programs include: communication; critical thinking; independent learning and examining relationships in diverse and complex environments. There are also a number of adult education classes in: obtaining a GED; ESL; Work Keys certificate; employment skills; tutoring and basic computer classes.
Prospective students wishing to enroll at Bowling Green Technical College must have graduated from an accredited high school or have earned a GED and students must provide their transcripts. Students must also present satisfactory SAT or ACT test results or the COMPASS placement exam.
