The Body Mind Academy, founded in 1975 is a comprehensive vocational institution offering a variety of holistic healing programs leading to certification as a Body Mind holistic health practitioner. Programs are offered in a diverse range of areas including massage, fitness nutrition, counseling hypnotherapy and more. Each program is comprised of a unique time frame and course structure. There are flexible course offerings at Body Mind Academy to accommodate a variety of schedules.

Body Mind Academy is located in the scenic city of Kirkland, Washington. All of the Body Mind Academy programs aim to promote the overall health and healing of the body and mind. Some of the modalities offered through the massage program include Swedish massage, shiatsu, deep tissue massage and more. In the shiatsu program Body Mind students will learn about five element energy work, macrobiotics, pulse assessment and more.

Students of Body Mind can enjoy numerous recreational, cultural and historical attractions and take advantage of the many opportunities in the city of Kirkland in Washington. Kirkland offers beautiful water parks, beaches, numerous restaurants, quaint shops, art galleries and more for students to take advantage of. The Academy and the city of Kirkland is also within close proximity to the major metropolis of Seattle, Washington. The area is also home to numerous healing arts centers and spas.

In today's stressful world, holistic healing arts professions are in high demand. According to the United States Department of Labor the employment in the massage therapy field is "expected to grow faster than average over the 2006-16 period." The health care field is also rapidly growing, which includes the hypnotherapy and nutritionist professions.

  • The Body Mind Academy Fitness and Nutrition Program offers students with the unique opportunity to participate in the case study program through which students gain one to one experience.

  • Among the schools many unique distinctions, the fitness and nutrition consultant program fully combines fitness, assessment and suggestions and nutrition information and is reportedly the only program available in Washington to do so.

  • According to the United States Department of Labor, the "median wage and salary hourly earnings of massage therapists, including gratuities, were $16.06 in May 2006."

  • The Body Mind Shiatsu program is a 324-credit hour program; the BodyMind Fitness and nutrition consultant program is a six- month, 354 hour month program; the Body Mind breath work practitioner program is six-months, 314 credit hour program and the BodyMind Massage practitioner program is a nine-month, 688 hour program.
