Blue Ridge Community College is a two-year comprehensive North Carolina community college that has many programs to offer its students. In addition, the campus occupies facilities on 140 acres. The Flat Rock campus is two and a half miles southeast of Hendersonville, Henderson County, North Carolina. In 1963, the North Carolina General Assembly authorized a system of comprehensive community colleges and technical institutes to be established in areas of the state where a definite need for such an institution was shown. On the basis of this need and through the combined efforts of interested citizens in Henderson County, Blue Ridge Community College was established as Henderson County Technical Institute in May of 1969. At that time, the citizens of Henderson County approved a bond issue and a special tax levy, which provided funds for the construction, operation, and maintenance of a school plant for the school.

A 10-building complex provides 305,595 square feet of floor space, divided into shop and laboratory space, classrooms, library, learning center, office and reception space, and student lounge area. The College opened the David W. Sink, Jr. Building in 1997. It houses all allied health programs, the Cosmetology program, the Early Childhood Associate program and its accompanying Child Development Center. The south wing of the building contains a 405-seat auditorium.
