On 10 acres of land in Jacksonville, Texas, Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary's founding dates back to 1950 when the Baptist Missionary Association of America voted to make what was then Jacksonville College Seminary a national seminary. By 1971, the Jacksonville school had been awarded associate status within the Association of Theological Schools.

Today, Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary is on more than 10 acres and is home to students who have chosen to study both undergraduate and graduate degree programs while expressing their allegiance to Christ and the Christian faith. At Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary students may enroll in the Associate of Divinity degree program that is designed for pupils who are 30 years in age or older and is a two-year program. Within the program students may choose between different fields of study. A bachelor of arts in religion degree is offered to those who have already obtained an Associates of Arts degree. Those who are looking to pursue a master's degree will be pleased with the wide variety of programs Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary provides. One may choose between a master's of divinity, master's of arts - theological studies, master's of arts - religion, master's of arts in christian education, master's of arts in church ministries and a master's of arts in pastoral counseling. Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary is also able to award students a Certificate of Christian Leadership if a student chooses not to enroll in a degree program. A certificate is awarded to those who complete 24 semester hours of study.

Learning extends past classroom instruction at Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary. Students are able to take part in worship, a religious life committee, a student life committee, student council, placement service, clinical pastoral education - a summer program where students gain credits for hours spent learning theory and gaining experience with the mentally ill. Spiritual enrichment and other service programs can also be taken advantage of through Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary.
