Alverno College is a private, Catholic, four-year liberal arts college for women chartered in 1887 by the School Sisters of St. Francis. Alverno sits on a 46-acre campus in a residential neighborhood on the southwest edge of Milwaukee, providing easy access to museums, performing arts center, galleries, entertainment and shopping malls.

Alverno offers weekday and alternative weekend undergraduate programs for women and graduate programs for women and men. Students can pursue degrees that include: Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Arts in Education, Master of Science in Nursing, and Master of Business Administration. The average undergraduate class size ranges between 20 to 25 students. There are about 110 full-time faculty, and more than 85 percent hold the highest degree in their field.

Alverno's 60-plus undergraduate program areas of study reflect majors, minors, and associate degrees. They are contained within the School of Arts and Sciences, School of Business, School of Education and School of Nursing.
