Allen County Community College has a history that reaches back many years. First established as Iola Junior College in the early 1920s, the Kansas college has the used the years since to grow and expand into a comprehensive two-year institution of higher learning, dedicate to serving the community.

In addition to its main campus in Iola, Allen County Community College offers residents throughout the state the learning opportunities that they need in order to succeed in their careers and education. Today, this Kansas college features an outreach center in Burlingame, as well the Allied Health Academy in New Strawn.

For students who are interested in an academically oriented education, Allen County Community College offers anything from programs in agriculture, computer repair, theater, business management development, and biology, to elementary education, police science, pre-law, addictions counseling, and psychology. There are even pre-professional tracks -- such as pre-dentistry, pre-pharmacy, and pre-optometry -- offered within the science department.

Students interested in certificate programs will find that programs for professions such as healthcare specialist, emergency medical technician, first responder, and home health aide as offered. Vocational programs are also offered for computer-aided design, adult care home administration, child care, geriatric aide, and computer science.
