Alderson-Broaddus College, established in 1871, is a health-related and professional educational institution affiliated with the American Baptist Churches and the West Virginia Baptist Convention. The campus overlooks the picturesque Tygart River Valley in Philippi and is the only West Virginia school to be ranked in the "Great Schools, Great Prices" category by U.S. News & World Report.
Alderson-Broaddus College offers elected programs in the health sciences, social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, and education. Students may also enroll to get a Master's Physician Assistant Studies degree. Graduates of the Alderson-Broaddus College Physician Assistant Program are eligible for membership in the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
Housing choices include three buildings on campus that include a co-ed suite style hall, freshman female community style hall or upper-class suite style living.
