Albany College of Pharmacy is a private, professional school that provides pharmacy education, located in the heart of New York state's capital region. This health care college has been graduating students into health care professions for more than 125 years. It provides licensure in a number of fields, but its focus is on advancing the health care industry through education and scientific and clinical research.
Albany College of Pharmacy offers the following academic programs: B.S. Biomedical Technology, B.S. Pharmaceutical Sciences, Continuous Professional Development, Cytotechnology Certificate, and Doctor of Pharmacy. It has a small enrollment, admitting about 300 freshmen and fewer than 100 graduate students each year. The total enrollment is about 1,250 students.
Located in the University Heights section of Albany--with Albany Law School, Albany Medical College, and Sage College of Albany nearby--the college is experiencing new growth and expansion. Albany College of Pharmacy added the Pharmaceutical Research Institute and the Center for NanoPharmaceuticals, where scientists and technicians focus on drug discovery and development. It has also built a state-of-the-art Pharmacy Practice Laboratory.
