Alamo Community Colleges are comprised of five colleges across three campuses in Texas that help students succeed through qualified faculty and such services as counseling centers, computer labs, tutoring, veteran's services and job placement.
Of the 53,133 students enrolled in Spring 2007 classes, the majority attended Alamo Community College at its San Antonio College, followed by St. Phillip's College, Northwest Vista College and finally, Palo Alto College. Figures were not available for Northeast Lakeview College, which was established in 2007. By having five campuses to choose from, students pursue the environment that works best for them: thriving in a crowd of thousands or succeeding smaller classes.
Alamo Community College offers day, evening and weekend classes, as well as telecourses and web-based classes. The Texas college offers over 325 degree and certificate programs, in such diverse areas as American Sign Language, Comic Books, and Kinesiology.
Alamo Community College's Web site is very student centric, featuring on its homepage, a "Student of the Month" and students in the news, evidence of the Texas college's commitment to its students, and that they be encouraged to achieve their dreams. Too, in November of 2005, Bexar County voters approved a $450 million proposal to meet the needs of Alamo Community Colleges' growing enrollment. The groundbreaking on these improvements is currently underway at each campus.
