From its roots as the Huntsville Normal School in 1875, Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University has grown from a student body of 61 to over 6,000 students. Throughout its more than 130-year history, both the name and mission of this Alabama college have been altered to accommodate changing times. While Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University used to specialize in agricultural and trade programs, it has grown offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs that support professional, vocational, and liberal arts fields of study.

Thanks to continued expansion, Alabama A&M University is now comprised of six different schools and is home to a variety of programs. The School of Arts and Science, the School of Education, and the School of Engineering are only a sampling of the schools and opportunities available at this Alabama college.
