Adelphi University is the oldest institution of higher education for liberal arts and sciences on Long Island. In addition to its main campus in Garden City, this New York liberal arts university has three smaller locations throughout New York in New York City, Hauppauge, and Poughkeepsie.

Adelphi University enrolls more than 8,000 students from more than 40 states and 45 foreign countries. Approximately 70 percent of freshmen applicants are accepted. Adelphi University has approximately a 10 to 7 student to faculty ratio and its average undergraduate class size is 22.

Chartered by the University of the State of New York, Adelphi University's schools and programs include the College of Arts and Sciences, the Gordon F. Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies, the Honors College, the School of Business, the Ruth S. Ammon School of Education, the School of Nursing, the School of Social Work, and Adult Academic Programs in University College.
