Since 1993, Arlington Medical Institute (AMI) offers programs in health education specifically to prepare its graduates for careers in the allied health field. Training programs are offered to become registered medical assistants, EKG technician, and phlebotomy technicians. AMI is accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) and approved and regulated by the Texas Workforce Commission Career Schools and Colleges.

The program trains students in lab procedures, clinical skills, and office administration. Other coursework includes Anatomy and Physiology with Terminology, CPR, and light typing. Students learn through a mix of classroom instruction, education in a clinical setting, and externships. After finishing AMI's Medical Assistant course, AMI students are qualified to take the National Registered/Certified exams for EKG Technician and Phlebotomy Technician in addition to the Medical Assistant exams.

Owner and president, Dr. Alicia Wilkerson also owns and operates The Neighborhood Doctor clinics. In these clinics, she employs medical assistants almost exclusively to assist in her practices. Due to this need, she seeks to educate well-trained medical assistants, as well as well-trained members in all areas of the allied health professions through AMI. After finishing AMI's Medical Assistant course, AMI students are qualified to take the National Registered/Certified exams for EKG Technician and Phlebotomy Technician in addition to the Medical Assistant exams.

AMI's staff and faculty prides themselves on offering a quality, professional, cost-efficient education that works as a dynamic, co-operative, caring team. They seek to make students aware of the opportunities and responsibilities of working in the health care profession. Staff includes doctors and experienced medical assistants in order to provide a well-rounded education for students.
