Since 1950, Appalachian Bible College has offered Associate, Bachelor's and Master's in Bible/Theology studies. While they are an independent, non-denominational school, they are affiliated with mostly Bible and Baptist churches. ABC offer minors in topics ranging from camping and family counseling to elementary education and music. They are accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE), The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association (NCA), and recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Appalachian Bible College, as an independent mission agency, serves the fundamentalist Christian community with the goal of strengthening of local churches. The college's educational programs promote the development of responsible Christian character while preparing graduates for vocational and volunteer church-related service. The programs consist college-level courses in Bible and Theology, professional studies, and general studies, with an emphasis on co-curricular opportunities, devotional activities, practical Christian service, and active community living. The College promotes activities such as conferences, retreats and programs that assist churches and church related groups to achieve their objective of evangelism and edification.

The Bible is integrated into every aspect of every class a student takes. Students begin with an overview of Scripture, then proced to in-depth Book studies. Classes such as English and Speech are structured to help studnets become effective communicators of God's Word. Theology classes focus on helping students determine what they believe and why. Classes in Personal Evangelism and Major Cults help students learn how to share the Gospel with confidence. ABC student are taught to interact and participate in classes lead by faculty that is spiritual, academic, and practical experience in various fields of service.

Quick Facts

  • ABC is part of the National Christian College Athletic Association and offer alpine ministry programs such as bible camp and alpine adventures (caving, paintball, whitewater rafting).

  • The college was founded in September, 1950 at the Independent Baptist Church by Rev. and Mrs. Lester Pipkin and Pastor & Mrs. Robert Guelich. Their goal was to begin a Bible training institute for the youth of the Appalachian Mountains.

  • Completed in 2002, the Servant Center includes a kitchen and dining room, classrooms, student lounge and snack shop, campus post office and bookstore, and clinic and Student Services offices. It has since become the hub of student activity.

  • As National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA), the men and women are known as the Warrior's and participate in soccer, basketball, and volleyball.
