Located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Americare Institute is a private post-secondary school that offers full-time and part-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and Basic Nursing Assistant programs. The goal of Americare Institute is to help their students become clinically competent and caring healthcare professionals while offering affordable and flexible classes (morning and evening sessions) so that students can work while they complete their nursing education. Students are given the knowledge and know-how to provide the necessary and crucial care to children and adults with common health care problems.
Americare Institute wants to be the top provider of healthcare training in Chicago. To do so, the school strives to provide affordable, focused, job-specific training that allows students to fulfill other work and family obligations. In order to meet these expectations, the school insists on a number of practices: limited class sizes, instructional and qualified faculty that have relevant work experience, providing the tools and equipment needed to practice what students are taught, create clear and defined course goals and objectives that relate to industry standards, creates courses and programs that can be easily transferred to other colleges and universities, and offer flexible, day and night-schedules. To begin the LPN program, students must complete five prerequisite courses: Computer Fundamentals, Effective Business Writing, Mathematics for Nurses, Medical Terminology and Psychology for Nurses. These courses generally take four to six months to complete afterwards the LPN core program takes only a year to complete.
They operate as a private vocational school under the authority of the Illinois State Board of Education and approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health. They offer financial aid through Sallie Mae. After graduating from Americare Institure, students receive a Certificate of Completion and a Pharmacology Certificate as well as gaining eligibility to take the NCLEX-PN and earn a license as Licensed Practical Nurse. Students go on to take positions in acute care, long-term care, and ambulatory care settings.
