The American University of Health Sciences is a professional training school located in Long Beach, California that trains people in the health and health education fields. The American University of Health Sciences offers Associate's Degrees and certificate programs in a broad range of health profession areas. Established in 1994 as the American Institute of Health Sciences, the school recently changed its name to the American University of Health Sciences. Situated just 40 minutes from Hollywood and the beaches of southern California, the location of the American University of Health Sciences makes it an attractive choice for a health sciences school.

Certification programs include clinical research associate/coordinator: In this program students learn how to oversee a clinical research trial on behalf of the sponsor. The clinical research associate handles the administrative and monitors the progress of the trial. In the pharmacy technician program, students learn the necessary skills to gain an entry-level position with a retail, hospital or insurance/HMO pharmacy. The American University of Health Sciences also offers a certificate program for research medical assistants. In this program, students learn office management, clinical trial assisting, drug administration, medical laboratory, FDA paperwork preparation, patient recruitment and a basic knowledge of medical billing procedures.

The American University of Health Sciences also offers a new program in Master of Science in Clinical Research; Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Clinical Research Assistant/Coordinator program. Students wishing to enroll at the American University of Health Sciences must complete a 100-word essay expressing why they want to enter a certain field of study; present two recommendations; present passport-sized photos; a resume; a release waiver form; copies of driver's license, social security card and diplomas/transcripts from high school or GED program and proof of U.S. citizenship (if applying as a U.S. citizen). Financial aid for enrollment at the American University of Health Sciences is available through various sources by applying through the financial aid office. Financial aid is distributed through that office for those who qualify.
