The American Institute of Naturopathic Medicine is affiliated with American Health Source, Inc. AINM is a national association whose aim is to help traditional health care providers effectively provide natural health care, advance the education and training of traditional medical professionals, and lend practical services to natural health care providers. Some of the services that the AINM provides are post graduate education and training, practice and business development training, certification and testing, professional membership, professional registry, professional liability insurance, and personal health insurance.

Current members of the American Institute of Naturopathic Medicine are holistic health care practitioners, clinical nutrition consultant, master herbalists and allopathic, chiropractic, naprapathic, naturopathic and homeopathic physicians. There are three paths to an AINM membership: doctoral registry, professional registry and associate membership.

Candidates for the doctoral registry must fulfill several requirements, including two years of pre-med undergraduate study, a four- or five-year residential program at a reputable naturopathic college or internship or a four- or five-year residential program in allopathic, osteopathic, chiropractic or naprapathic medicine. To join the professional registry, applicants should have at minimum a degree or certificate from a licensed college, university or post-secondary school acknowledged by the AINM in herbal medicine, holistic health care or clinical nutrition. An associate membership requires that applicants be enrolled in a diploma or certificate program at a college, university or post-secondary school acknowledged by the American Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in one of the following areas: naturopathic consultant, holistic health care consultant, holistic health care practitioner, herbal medicine, clinical nutrition, allopathic medicine, osteopathic medicine, chiropractic medicine, naprapathic medicine, or an undergraduate program with a pre-med concentration.
