The American Institute for Foreign Study is a cultural exchange organization headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut. The American Institute for Foreign Study has offices in five foreign countries and they assist over 50,000 students each year participate in cultural exchanges. The American Institute for Foreign Study offices are located in: the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, France, Germany, Poland and South Africa. Established in 1964, the American Institute for Foreign Study programs include college study abroad, au pair placement, camp America participants and staff, gifted education, high school study/travel and insurance services. The American Institute for Foreign Study is a for-profit organization, which makes the company not only accountable to the bottom line, but for the social outcomes of the people participating it its programs.

The study abroad program through the American Institute for Foreign Study is for colleges students wishing to have the international experience. The study abroad program provides cultural experiences in 16 different countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Costa Rica, China, Czech Republic, England, France, India, Ireland, Italy, Peru, Russia, South Africa and Spain. The American Institute for Foreign Study also places au pairs (nannies) from foreign countries to the United States. The American Institute for Foreign Study recruits au pairs from Eastern and Western Europe, South Africa, the Americas New Zealand and the Middle East and Asia. This program allows people from different countries to live and work in the United States while gaining a better understanding of life in America. Camp America allows international visitors to assume summer jobs at camps and summer camps in the United States.

The Summer Institute for the Gifted through the American Institute for Foreign Study has been providing students in kindergarten through 12th grade the opportunity to participate in a summer camp. Founded in 1984, the camp hosts a mixture of American and foreign students each year. The exchange program for high school students allows more than 1,000 students each year to live with American host families and attend school during the academic year. Exchange programs allows foreign students to learn about life in the United States while allowing their host families, fellow students and teachers at their high school to learn about people and cultures throughout the world.
