Alpena Community College offers educational programs, technical training, and cultural opportunities in Northeast Michigan. The college says its roughly 2,500 students are marked by diverse ages, backgrounds and goals. The first class of 23 students graduated from Alpena Community College in June 1954. Though classes aren't quite that small today, this Michigan College prides itself on being able to deliver classes with individual attention.

Situated on 700 acres of land bordered by a river, Alpena Community College was accredited by the Michigan Commission on College Accreditation to award associate degrees in the arts, commerce and sciences. Today, the Michigan college also is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, as well as the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education.

Programs include child development, natural sciences and millwright technician. On Alpena Community College's campus, there are a variety of social academic, athletic, cultural and service opportunities for students. To keep students informed, the Michigan college prints "The Splinter" newsletters on Tuesdays and Thursdays, which updates students on things to do and sights to see.

  • Alpena Community College's College Park Apartments opened in 1997, providing students with on-campus housing.

  • The latest addition to the campus is the World Center for Concrete Technology, which contains a full-size production and manufacturing plant of research; labs for mason training, certified testing and instruction; a computer lab; three classrooms; offices and a conference room.
