Allegheny College is a liberal arts college located in a metropolitan area known for its outdoor recreation, which boasts six lakes and several state parks for picnicking, hiking, caving, canoeing, kayaking, camping, and skiing. The downtown area is within walking distance of campus and within easy driving distance from Chicago, Cincinnati, Baltimore and New York City.

The Allegheny campus is comprised of 77 acres and 36 major buildings that include a nationally acclaimed science complex, art galleries, a library that houses more than 900,000 volumes, and an observatory and planetarium. A recreation complex takes up another 203 acres.

More than 2,100 students from 37 states and 32 countries are enrolled at Allegheny College. There are about 137 full-time faculty members, and 93 percent of them hold a Ph.D. or other terminal degree. The student to faculty ratio is 14 to one, and the average introductory class size is 22 students. The average upper-classmen class is comprised of 15 students. More than 80 percent of Allegheny's classes have fewer than 30 students.

Extensive merit aid is available at Allegheny College. Students are guaranteed up to $60,000 over four years of study. Students may pursue undergraduate degrees, an accelerated Master's in Management program in partnership with Carnegie Mellon University, or an MBA in coordination with the Rochester School of Business. Dual-degree programs are also available in engineering, occupational therapy, nursing, allied health, and physical therapy.
