Originally established to provide low-cost yet high quality higher education for the residents of Allegany County and its surrounding areas, Allegany College of Maryland (ACM) has always made its students a top priority. As the development of Maryland's community college system has rapidly grown, so, too has Allegany College of Maryland. The 316-acre Cumberland Campus, ACM's main campus, as well as Bedford County Campus, Bedford County Technical Center, and Somerset County Campus are conveniently located and easily accessible to the diverse student population at Allegany College of Maryland. From veterans to homemakers to first-time college students, Allegany College of Maryland meets people where they are and helps them reach their goals.

Allegany College of Maryland continues to set itself apart from other community colleges in a variety of ways. ACM offers top-notch student housing in its Willowbrook Woods garden-style community that is adjacent to campus, affordable to students, and most importantly, safe and secure. Along with exceptional student housing, Allegany College of Maryland has an outstanding library that includes a 56,000-volume book collection and a periodicals collections of approximately 315 current subscriptions. Additionally, the art gallery and the College Theatre provide ample opportunities for students and residents to enjoy all forms of cultural programs and activities.
