The Webb School is a dynamic learning environment with a great history of academic excellence. Webb graduates include 10 Rhodes Scholars as well as governors, senators, movie stars, editors of national publications and numerous other prominent roles. While we are proud of this academic heritage, Webb is much more than a school; it is a family. We seek candidates who are ready and willing to contribute to our school. In return, we know that our students will flourish by actively participating in our programs and by embracing Webb's emphasis on honor and personal integrity. We fully believe that by embracing each of these opportunities, Webb graduates are prepared to become leaders in life.
Webb was founded in 1870 and currently has 320 boarding and day students in grades 6-12 from 13 states and 7 countries. The 150-acre campus is located among the rolling hills of Middle Tennessee, 50 miles southeast of Nashville.
We invite you to explore Webb and discover why we have The Character of Home.

Academics
A Webb education focuses on the whole student. While our rigorous academic programs offer the opportunities and support that prepare you for college, we also stress the personal development that prepares you for life. You learn the pride of hard work and the patience necessary to listen to others. You gain the confidence to express yourself, whether it's in one-on-one conversations or in front of the whole school. Most of all, you find the trust in yourself that you can succeed. |

With Webb's new fine arts center, our students have an outstanding facility for students to pursue each of these passions. |

Webb's choir and string ensemble performs both on and off campus during the year. Each program is led by teachers with a high level of experience. |
Merit Scholarship Opportunities
The Webb School Honors Scholarship Program offers two full scholarships to new boarding students that are applying for ninth grade. The deadline is February 15th.
Study Abroad
The Webb School offers two study abroad programs through its foreign language department. The French department offers a two-week exchange with a school in Strasbourg, France. Spanish students can enrich their studies by attending our summer program in Salamanca, Spain. |
Middle School
Our middle school program is designed to develop all students to their fullest intellectual and social potential and to prepare them for success in the upper school. The middle school faculty is committed to the philosophy and goals of the total school curriculum. Webb also instills in the middle school student respect for courtesy, honesty and responsibility. The acceptance of differences and appreciation for the individual are integral to the middle school philosophy. Webb believes that upon completion of the either grade, every student will have the integrity and academic skills to be a contributing member of the upper school. We believe that close monitoring of a student's academic and social development is key to making the transition to high school. Middle school boarders get one-on-one help from faculty in their evening study halls. Teachers meet weekly to discuss every student, and they continually update parents about their child's progress. |
Upper School
Upper School (Grades 9-12)
Our upper school program offers students the opportunity to excel in the classroom, in athletics and in the arts. Webb School's small class sizes help our talented faculty motivate our students. Students receive the support they need to master our challenging curriculum and the push they need to excel. Our curriculum allows students to take Advanced Placement and Honors courses in subjects where they excel, as well as rigorous college preparatory classes.
Webb students have access to the technology they need for their coursework. The classrooms and dorms are fully networked, while our library features 16 computer stations with access to over 400 periodicals and 200 newspapers.

Honor Code
The Honor Code is Webb School's approach to dealing with misconduct that is essentially immoral in character. Cheating, stealing, plagiarism, and lying are considered honor offenses. All Webb students sign the Honor Pledge at the beginning of each academic year. It states: "I pledge my word of honor as a Webb gentleman or lady that I will not lie, cheat or steal." An additional pledge signed on all tests, papers and other assignments states: "I pledge my word of honor as a Webb gentlemen or lady that I have neither given nor received any help on this assignment." The principles of the honor code are not simply rules to follow in order to remain in good standing on Webb's campus. The honor code is a means of ensuring the highest standard of personal integrity among Webb students. Embracing the code continually enriches our campus's culture of trust, freedom, security and academic integrity that has existed since 1870.
The Honor Council
The Honor Council is the oldest student organization on campus. Annually selected by the student body, Honor Council members are some of the most widely respected student leaders on campus. |
Tuition and Financial Aid
To offset the cost of your child's education, Webb is committed to providing financial aid based on a family's need. Webb will award over $1,000,000 in financial assistance for the 2009-10 school year to about 34% of our student body. The money awarded each year is a grant provided by Webb's endowment and various gifts to the school.
Applying for financial aid is easier than it sounds. The application for financial aid has no bearing on admission to Webb. Students are accepted into Webb based on academic performance, personal qualities and standardized test scores. The process of determining admission and financial aid are separate.
Legacy Scholarship
Webb offers a Legacy Scholarship for its boarding population in the amounts of $5,000 and $10,000. This scholarship is made possible by the endowment and gifts to the program. To qualify for the scholarship a parent, grandparent, great-grandparent, aunt, or uncle of yours must have graduated from Webb and each student is required to write an essay.
Loan Information
A number of third-party lenders offer longer-term educational loans at attractive rates. Key Education Resources and PrepGATE offer loan plans payable over 10 years.

Residential Life
The residential program at Webb offers students wonderful opportunities to join a closely knitted community of approximately 100 students and adults on campus. Getting students involved in dorm life is crucial to making them feel at home. From nightly dinners to bowling on the weekends, activities within each dorm and between the dorms create a strong sense of community. The weekly calendar gives descriptions of planned activities, allowing all members of the community to be fully informed of upcoming opportunities offered at Webb.
Facilities
Webb has two male and two female dormitories. Students are assigned to a dorm on the basis of their grade. Each dorm has faculty members who support students in the dorm throughout the week. The dorm common rooms have a TV and DVD player along with computers and Internet connections. All dorms feature a wireless network.
Leadership
Webb works to create an environment that encourages independence while providing its students with structure and support. Within the dorms is a network of faculty who are there not only to monitor, but also to offer advice and guidance to students who need it.
Activities
With a variety of weekend activities from which to choose, boarders are never at a loss for something to do. Activities range from professional and college level sporting events and concerts in Nashville to white water rafting and trips to area malls and movie theaters. Each dorm plans its own activities, as well. The dorms will go out to dinner, watch movies, go bowling, or whatever everyone decides to do. |
