We welcome your interest in Spring Ridge Academy because we know it can lead to success for your child - not just academic success, but success in life. With that success comes confidence, and the ability to have the kind of relationship you and your child both desire.
Spring Ridge Academy is an all girls, therapeutic boarding school serving students ages 13 - 17 in grades 9 - 12. Spring Ridge combines an empowering emotional growth program with a sophisticated therapeutic approach and a rigorous college prep curriculum. Not only are students immersed in an environment dedicated to fostering maturity and confidence, the entire family is included in the process, creating an atmosphere of change, collaboration and hope. The catalyst for creating this change is a powerful, affirmative and nurturing program that creates confidence and competence in core areas: emotional, physical, academic, community, and family.
"The young woman that I knew was hidden inside of my troubled daughter has come out! She is even more beautiful than I imagined."
- SRA Parent
At Spring Ridge Academy, students confront and master the self-limiting beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors separating them from success. Low self-esteem, social inappropriateness, poor school performance - these are challenges to be managed, not immovable roadblocks.

Therapy
Parents choose Spring Rindge Academy because they believe their daughter has reached a point where she cannot thrive in her home environment. This is a difficult decision and one that requires parents to trust and accept assistance in caring for their daughter. At Spring Ridge Academy we understand the magnitude of this decision and our responsibility in facilitating a nurturing, meaningful and safe experience for our students and families.
Many of our students and families have experienced little success in out patient therapy prior to enrolling at SRA. Often these young women have manipulated and lied to therapists or have simply been unable to sustain appropriate behavior and healthy choices. Some have refused therapy altogether. Our therapeutic milieu and approach is designed to address each student's unique set of issues, challenges and strengths and to assist the family in making changes that support each member's growth. The therapists and staff of SRA are able to effectively work with each student by building trusting and honest relationships. We offer an integrated program that utilizes an overlay of techniques addressing individual and family issues.

Academics
I've learned I'm much more intelligent than I thought I was, and I've got so much potential.
-SRA student
What sets Spring Ridge Academy apart from other programs is the quality of education we provide in a therapeutic setting. SRA does not promote the exclusive use of independent study or a "learn at your own pace" curriculum. We believe that in order for our students to succeed in life they must learn to succeed in the classroom. For some students this means maintaining the high level of achievement they have experienced previously, while for others it may mean confronting fears and struggles that have plagued them in the past. Our goal is to provide an academic setting geared towards excellence and success.
The core of a Spring Ridge Academy education is the learning process. The academic environment at SRA nurtures young women to become confident, competent, and responsible students while gaining the necessary skills to engage in and enjoy the lifelong process of learning.
The academic program is traditional college preparatory, with an emphasis on writing skills, critical thinking, problem solving, and communication. Our program offers a classroom environment that is small and structured. The academic atmosphere is one that promotes individual accountability, creativity and integrity.
Our curriculum is designed to both assist students who have struggled or fallen behind and to challenge and prepare even the most dedicated student for future academic endeavors. SRA is fully accredited by the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges. Our teachers are certified, experienced and dedicated.
Each Spring Ridge Academy student is assigned an academic advisor. An advisor is a faculty member who provides academic counsel, support and encouragement to the student as she works toward reaching her maximum potential. The Academic Advisors works closely with the student's therapist on a treatment team providing a holistic and efficient overall process.
In addition to treatment team meetings, the entire faculty meets every week to review the academic and social progress of each student and to plan ways to work together in order to guide all students toward success. Detailed comments from teachers and advisors are provided in a written monthly update to assist parents in understanding their daughters' academic progress.

Health & Wellness
I feel I can be myself more easily because there are all girls here.
-SRA Student
Many of the young women entering SRA struggle with issues related to depression, anxiety, and body image. The social and emotional stress these young women experience in addition to unhealthy choices in diet and physical activity take a significant toll on their overall health. Addressing these concerns requires a knowledgeable approach to working with female adolescents and issues related to emotional and physical health. Our program is designed to allow students to integrate and maintain healthy life choices. Through a combination of yoga, cardiovascular exercise and strength training SRA students learn to reconnect with their bodies and appropriately manage their health, fitness and weight.
Each student attends the Physical Conditioning class prior to the academic day. This class combines Hatha yoga practice, focusing on waking up the body with gentle stretches, core strengthening exercises drawn from the Pilates tradition, and cardiovascular training at the track. Students learn the discipline and rewards of starting each day with exercise, as well as how to incorporate healthy exercise routines into their lives back at home.
In addition to the Pysical Conditioning class each student is required to participate in a dance and yoga course. These courses assist the student to continue to strengthen her connection with her body and incorporate balance and health into daily life.
Yoga and Dance
This course combines hatha yoga and modern dance technique to teach students how to incorporate physical fitness and balance into their lives. Through hatha yoga students build core strength and gain flexibility. They learn to respect their bodies as they become stronger and more physically capable. Yoga teaches students how to slow down, be in the moment and most importantly, how to relax. Through Ballet and modern dance technique students gain balance and muscular control and learn how to hold their bodies with correct alignment. Dance also serves as an excellent emotional outlet and as an avenue for self expression. As students build physical confidence, they learn healthy outlets for reducing stress and tension in their daily lives.
Expressive Movement
This course is designed for students who have had little or no dance background. Students will have the opportunity to explore and practice the principles of dance technique, working toward developing awareness, freedom and control in the use of the body as an instrument of expression. Modern, African and improvisational dance styles will be introduced and practiced. Through the study and practice of these movements, students will develop an awareness and response to music and rhythm in dance, physical control of the body and proficiency in the practice of simple center-floor and across the floor movement patterns.
